My name is Sebastian. I am a photographer, martial artist and am currently exploring the world of ceramics as well. I hope to share what I learn here on this blog with you.
Some of my work has been featured along my peers and mentors in Yakimono.ww. A page curated by Hans Pillen (a fantastic creator of chawan and chashaku himself) featuring artists and vessels created for the tea ceremony.
I like to create small, intimate objects that ask to be held. I strive for simplicity and elegance. I work mostly on Chawan (tea bowl), Yunomi (informal tea bowl), Guinomi (sake cup / shot glass), Maksabal (A Korean term for “everything bowl”) and hand carved lidded vessels.
I would like to thank all the amazing people that have come into my life, at just the right times, helping me to go in the directions that I seek. It’s not even possible to repay the generosity of friendship, knowledge, time and guidance. It compels me to be the best that I can be in everything that I do, and everything that I am, so that I can become a vessel of their kindness and share it with everyone I meet. I become what I create: a bowl.
